In 2012 passenger traffic increased by about a third at Minsk National Airport

Last year the main Belarusian airport handled 1,821,543 passengers (which is 27.4 % more than for 2011). In December 2012 passenger traffic through the main air gateway of the Republic of Belarus made up 124,745 passengers. For comparison: 1,430,000 passengers were handled in 2011.


In recent years new tendency of stable growth in passenger- and cargo-service has been seen. An advantageous geographical location of Minsk National Airport that is at the intersection of the main international routes makes it convenient for transfer flights. So, the number of transfer and transit passengers increased by 33.6 % and reached 49,573 passengers for 2012. In fact, a one-million passenger of Minsk National Airport was handled at the beginning of August 2012 that is considerably earlier than in the last years.


The route network from Minsk National Airport is expanding annually. So, in 2012 three new scheduled flights to Novosibirsk and Cherepovets Russian cities, as well as to Barcelona European city were launched. Currently, flights on regular basis are operated in 39 international destinations to the Western Europe, the Near East and other regions.


At present, Minsk National Airport continues to carry out activities for actively engaging new airlines, route network expanding and increasing frequency of already operated flights.
