Starting from 2003 there has been a growth trend of handled flights and passengers quantity increasing in Minsk National Airport.
In 2011 Minsk National Airport served 1 437 826 passengers (the increase is +11.9 %) and handled 13 686 flights (the increase is +18.8 %).

About 40 % of the overall handled flights volume are operated by foreign companies.
In 2011 Aeroflot (Russia) was attracted to carry out flights on Moscow – Minsk route on the regular basis, Lufthansa (Germany) provided an increase in the flight frequency as well. In addition the national carrier Belavia Airlines launched new regular flights to Helsinki and for the summer period it started to operate flights to Simferopol. Moreover, in the summer season a number of flights on Minsk – Baku – Minsk route was increased. In the winter season Minsk – Hannover – Minsk and Minsk – Astana – Minsk routes were launched. Since March 2011 Aeroflot which is one of Russian’s largest air carriers has started to operate regular flights on Moscow – Minsk route with a three times a day frequency. In total 17 foreign airlines operated regular flights in 2011.
